1st Grade

Back on August 23rd, we went to "Meet the Teacher", and started Simon's second year at this fine school. We found out who his teacher would be starting the next day, we found his room, he chose his desk, and we forgot to look at his locker. We signed on for the bus, knowing when and where it would pick him up. That moment we found out when the bus would drop him off back home, at our corner. This whole hot lunch thing and milk ticket was very confusing. And don't forget to pick up t-shirt order forms and join the PTA and check out after school activities. Oh, and the gym was crowded with every other student with 1-2 parents in tow. I love "Meet the Teacher", but it is overwhelming. Next year, though, we will have all day busing and lunching under our belts!

Oh, and isn't he handsome! Since he is a "busser", we take his picture by the school sign the day before at "Meet the Teacher".

The first morning of first grade!

Walking to the bus.

And there goes my lil' guy, all day long. I did not cry, felt some heart pangs. It is a long day, I do miss him and wonder what he is doing and how he is. I included a note for him in his lunch. The first day, he took one bite of his sandwich, but grinned ear to ear when I asked if he saw my note. First grade is a huge adjustment for him and for all of us!

Handsome, indeed! And I hope everyone's adjusted and into the routine of things by now.
