Cicada Update

Okay, so we do not yet have an infestation of cicadas. This is what we saw when we woke up today. I even found an "adult" cicada for your viewing pleasure.
For those of you who do not prefer to see this specific kind of bug, here is our own little curious Bug-a-Boo.


A new outside activity! All you need are a stick, a tree, cicada shells, and a toddler! The cicadas helped Simon get a new word! Listen for his version of "bug"!!!!

Simon and the Baby Chicks

Simon and I visited Ms. Nancy (a preschool teacher) at school to see the newly hatched baby chicks. Simon did not know quite what to think. He wandered from the toys to the chicks!

Mother's Day!

I enjoyed a lovely Mother's Day weekend! Saturday we spent the day in the yard and I planted flowers for most of the day. Our porch is now a paradise with lots of flowers to enjoy for many relaxing mornings, afternoons, evenings, meals, and playtimes! Simon gave me a birdfeeder, so we can watch the birds out of our front picture window. We joined Eric's parents for dinner and Dairy Queen on Saturday, for Bill's birthday as well as to celebrate Mother's Day with Eric's Mom.

Sunday we went to church before our adventure down to the Shedd Aquarium. Eric, Simon, and I thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Simon especially enjoyed the penguins and the lizards. We could tell when Simon spotted the lizard in the cage; quite difficult even for us since the lizards were the same color as their environment. We spent the late afternoon and evening relaxing on our porch and eating a fabulous dinner that Eric grilled and made for me!

Car Wash

Simon loved washing his new car (from the used car lot)! He could not wait to take his new wheels for a spin!

Pinecones and Popsicles

Here is a glimpse of an evening with Simon after Eric and I came home from work.

We played outside and discovered the joy of picking up pinecones.

Then, we had a small tantrum going inside and staying inside for dinner (sorry for the sideways video).

After dinner we went back outside to play and capped the evening with his first popsicle. He did well and did not sit for very long between licks. The best part was when he put the popsicle down on the ground and picked it up again for more!

Some New Words

Simon is starting to repeat what we say! Yeah - we have waited a long time for this event. In the last week he has frequently repeated and said "uh oh", "Mama", "more", and "bubbles". It melts our hearts to hear his little voice!!!!
