Here are some videos of Simon just being Simon! Just click on the website link below each description.

Here Simon is having a grand old time with ordinary kitchen tools. Funnels - which he helped himself to from the lazy susan!

Simon politely refuses dinner by talking about the temperature of the food and then pushing it away! We always reassure him that his food is "not hot". He always thinks his food is "hot hot"!

(I have noticed that the sound and picture are a bit off when I upload our videos to you tube. Not sure why, but you can still figure out what is happening! We are a bit curious as to the ease in accessing this blog. Please let us know of any difficulties you may encounter. Hopefully everyone is able to look at the pictures and videos. Our technical skills are limited, so no guarantees that we can fix any problems.)

Some Every Day Activities

Simon is a creature of habit, as we all are. He enjoys my corner cabinet and specifically pulls out the colander. I captured his smooshed little face one day as he was playing with my kitchen item. Another daily event is watching Sesamee Street. He LOVES Sesamee Street! He sits for a while and then wanders around while it is on. Elmo's World comes on, and he is hooked again! His new word "tttt" means T.V., and he says it everytime I ask him if he wants to watch Sesamee Street. Eating is also an everyday activity. He picks and chooses when he eats an entire meal. We do have the "toddler 5" diet, which consists of applesauce, yogurt, chicken nuggets, mac-n-cheese, and pasta. Here he is pictured devouring pizza. He really is a good eater, but those are guaranteed foods to be eaten.

Pee Wee Gym

Simon goes to Pee Wee Gym on Wednesday mornings. He can run, play, climb, and slide with large plastic toys (that we don't have room for at home) in the middle of winter. His favorite is the ride-in police car which he pretty much dominates. If another little person is in the car, he opens the door and stares at the child until he/she climbs out. Sharing does not happen!! Simon also enjoys putting the basketball in the short plastic hoop. He quickly learned how to ride the roller-coaster toy! (See video below) Free play makes up most of the class. The last ten minutes are movement songs, bubbles, and parachute. A stamp on the hand ends the class. Simon has so much fun!!

Super Bowl Sunday
We watched the Super Bowl with extreme anticipation at our friends house with 4 other couples, a total of 4 toddlers and 1 baby. The first 20 seconds of the game showed great promise, followed by great disappointment. As with all Chicago teams, there is always next year. And as everyone else is saying this Monday morning after, "spring training is about to start"! The Cubs are going all the way!!!!! (You heard it here first.)
The baby Bears eating Macaroni and Cheese, grapes, cantaloupe, bread, and milk.
