Amvets or the organization for Americans with Disabilites or Purple Heart frequently call our home looking for donations. Last winter, I became obsessed with always saying "yes" and going through each room looking for items we really no longer used or needed. It was quite easy to fill up just a bag. After the items that were easy to part with were gone, I started to dig deeper. After some birthdays and Christmases our toy stash grew, and unfortunately our small home did not. Still adament about not letting toys overtake us - a battle I'm not so sure we are winning :(, I decided to create a pile of possible donations. However, I saw some value in our growing stash perfect for a garage sale - and we have one scheduled on our calendar in a couple of weeks. But the garage will be closed and all items will be on our driveway. So what to call it? A "driveway sale" just doesn't seem right!

We now have two doors on saw-horses as tables in the garage filled with items already sporting masking tape price tags. Now I have been to numerous garage, yard, rummage, and estate sales - but pricing was still tricky. How much would I pay for that at a sale? How much if I bought it new in the store? What is the quality and the condition of the item? It became easier as I went along. And I realized, I can change my mind with bartering or stick to the price dictated by sharpie on masking tape. So far the stash is amazing and it will feel great to have that stuff out of here! I may have to reign in my delight of finding possible sale items so I do not have seller's remorse!

I know not all of it will walk away with a happy new owner, so whichever organizer calls next gets the leftover goods! As what to do with the profits - that has yet to be determined. Perhaps help fund Christmas, an item on our wish list, donate, or just save it.

Just wait for pics of our sale and discussion regarding who bought what!
